Oxford is just beautiful, would recommend it. Especially booking a tour to see the Kilns.

Just to let you know, I noticed a typo - the protagonist of Out of the Silent Planet is named Elwin Ransom, not Random.

Definitely will do that tour!

And thank you - typos are so sneaky! 😆

You're very welcome. They seem to always find a way to sneak in.

If you're interested, I've quoted/cited CS Lewis quite a bit on my Substack, most notably the most called 'Kino und Sensucht.'

Visited Lewis' house in Oxford a few months ago. A beautiful experience, especially seeing his grave in the nearby church. Unfortunately, the Inklings' local pub, The Eagle and Child, seems to be a permanent casualty of COVID.

I've been longing to go back to Oxford, but my 2020 trip was postponed. Hoping to be able to get back there soon. I missed his house and grave in my last visit, but thankfully make it to The Eagle and Child. That's a true bummer it's no longer open! :(

Yes, unfortunately the pandemic was very hard on pubs and bars. There is one Inklings-related pub still open in Oxford, the White Horse right next to Blackwell's bookshop.

CS Lewis' local pub in Headington is still open: the Ampleforth Arms.
