One of my favorite parts of publishing is the cover process - from sending over ideas, mood boards, and comps to seeing initial designs, to landing on the final cover is so cool to be a part of. I find trends and what becomes popular and what fades fascinating.
I thought it would be fun to take a look at different covers from some of the Inklings most popular books. Which ones do you like? Which trend do you wish would come back? Or are there many that you hope die a fiery death by balrog?
Out of the Silent Planet by C.S. Lewis - I have to say the creepy eyeball is something else!
Whose Body? by Dorothy Sayers - For me, it's the shocked maid or creepy hand out of the bath that takes the cake.
The Secret of Father Brown by G.K. Chesterton - I genuinely like the orange and black cover!
The Two Towers by J.R.R. Tolkien - I love so many of the LOTR covers, but the Legalos/Gimli blue cover (and the same ones for the other books, like The Hobbit’s creepy Gollum) never fails to make me laugh.
